The Different Kinds of Stair Lifts

By mobilitytiger | May 23, 2008

Stair lifts are used by people who have trouble using the stairs. They can be installed on all types of stairs. This includes curved, straight, and spiral staircases. One of the great things about a stair lift is that it can allow people to use the stairs without assistance. Most modern stair lifts can be installed fairly easily in a few hours. There are several different types of stair lifts that are available.

In these cases the person would not be able use a stair lift that required them to sit down, so in these cases a standing lift is a must. They feature a small platform and often have a small support that you can lean up against for added support. These are also good for stairs that are narrow because they do not take up as much room as a chair stair lift. They are not good for everyone however because it requires good balance.dc1.jpg

The other type of stair lift is the seated stair lift. A seated stair lift sends a chair up and down the stairs. You just sit back and relax as you are carried up the stairs. These units often have seatbelts for added security. Most seated stair lifts feature a swivel seat that makes it much easier to mount and dismount the lift.

Whether you decide upon a seated stair lift or a standing stair lift, you will be amazed at the way it can open up your home and restore your freedom.
